This addendum should be read together with BC Parks Foundation's general Privacy Policy, which applies to all of our interactions with you except where this addendum states otherwise.
This addendum applies specifically to the Win for the Wild Adventure Lottery, comprising the Prize Raffle (BC Gaming Event Licence #176005) and the 50/50 Percentage Draw (BC Gaming Event Licence #176006), and supplements our general Privacy Policy.
How your ticket purchase is processed
Tickets for this lottery are sold through Raffle Nexus, a Canadian gaming services provider certified by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) to operate our Electronic Raffle System. When you purchase a ticket at WinfortheWild.ca or by phone, Raffle Nexus collects your name, contact information (email and/or phone), payment details, and your location at the time of purchase (used to confirm you are physically located in British Columbia, as required by BC gaming regulation), and generates your ticket number(s) using its certified random number generator.
Payment processing is PCI DSS compliant. Raffle Nexus's own privacy policy governs how it handles your information at the point of purchase; BC Parks Foundation receives your purchaser and, where applicable, winner information from Raffle Nexus as described below.
How BC Parks Foundation uses this information
- To administer the lottery
- Verify eligible entries, conduct the draws, and reconcile ticket sales.
- To contact and pay winners
- Winners are contacted by phone and email using the information provided at the time of purchase, and non-cash prizes or cheques are delivered by the method described in the House Rules (electronic delivery, in-person pickup, or mail).
- To meet our reporting and record-keeping obligations to the IGCO
- This includes retaining ticket sales, prize, and financial records for a minimum of five years.
- To communicate with you about this lottery specifically
- For example, draw results, ticket confirmation, or winner notification.
Publishing winners' names
As required by our gaming licence, if you win a prize your name, ticket number, prize won, and draw date will be published at WinfortheWild.ca within 10 days of the draw, and will also be provided to any individual who requests this information, as required by our gaming licence. By purchasing a ticket, you consent to this release of your name by BC Parks Foundation as the licensee.
If a winner cannot initially be reached, only the winning ticket number (not the winner's name) is published for up to 60 days while contact attempts continue, consistent with the House Rules.
Marketing communications
Purchasing a raffle or 50/50 ticket does not automatically enroll you in BC Parks Foundation's newsletters or fundraising communications. If you separately opt in to hear from us, we will use the contact information collected through your ticket purchase for that purpose, in accordance with your preferences and the opt-out options described in our general Privacy Policy.
If a minor holds a winning ticket
Ticket purchasers must be 19 years of age or older. However, if a winning ticket bears a minor's name (for example, where a ticket was given as a gift), the prize will be delivered to the minor's parent, legal guardian, or trustee, and we will collect that adult's contact information for this purpose only.
The draw itself
The draw is not livestreamed or recorded. It takes place at a location open to public attendance, as required by our gaming licence; attending the draw in person does not involve any additional collection of your personal information by BC Parks Foundation beyond what is described in this addendum.
Retention
Records related to ticket sales, prize awards, and this lottery's financial reporting are retained for a minimum of five years, in accordance with IGCO record-keeping requirements. This is separate from, and may be longer than, the retention periods described for other information in our general Privacy Policy.
